The ATC 2K Waterproof Action Cam from Oregon Scientific is a fully contained device that delivers full color digital video in three resolutions - from 640 x 480 to 160 x 120 - at either 30 frames per second for smooth playback or 15 frames per second to increase recording time. Released in the US late last year, theATC 2K has now reached Australian shores at a cost of AUD$199.

The camera comes with its own mounting equipment for handlebars, helmets and other sporting apparatus, even your arm. Waterproof to three meters, the unit is designed for use in a wide range of activities including swimming, skateboarding, mountain biking, snowboarding, surfing, skydiving, go-karting, snorkeling, trail bike riding, etc. It’s waterproof up to 3 meters (just under 10ft) and shock resistant.

The self-contained unit holds up to two hours of compressed video footage and features 32MB of internal memory and an in-built SD card slot for added storage capacity. It automatically saves footage after 40 minutes of recording time. Playback is via PC or TV using the cables included.

The Oregon Scientific Waterproof Action Cam unit weighs in at less than 450g/16oz including batteries and is durable enough to withstand most conditions. Operation is simple with a three-button design and an LCD technology display which shows recording start/stop, shooting modes and resolution, date/time, file deletion and microphone. The power saving management feature ensures the camera is turned off automatically after 10 minutes of not being used.
