Nissan has begun the pre-launch build-up for its new, high performance GT-R sports car ahead of the Tokyo Motor Show on October 24. Japan will be the first to get the GT-R (previous models were known as the Skyline GT-R) in December with an expected price of 7.8 million yen (US$67,500).

Set to become available in North America and elsewhere around the world as a Nissan model, the GT-R has previously been previewed in concept form as the GT-R PROTO.

Nissan has launched a dedicated GT-R website in six languages (Japanese, English, Spanish, German, French and Italian) in anticipation of the launch and Japanese customers will have access to some initial details and practical information on placing pre-orders from today.

The company has also announced the establishment of 160 Nissan High Performance Centers in Japan that will provide specialist sales and servicing support for GT-R owners.
