Designed for producers of digital content, LaCie's five terabyte Biggest S2S 5-disk RAID system can reach burst transfer rates of up to 200 megabytes per second and can stream non-compressed HD Video in HDTV 1080i and 1080p format.

Up to four S2S units can be linked together through the eSATA PCI-X/Express Card to provide 20TB of space with a burst transfer speed of 600MB/s.

The system supports RAID levels 0, 1, 0+1, and JBOD. When using the pre-configured "fast mode" of RAID 0, users can edit hours of 10-bit HD uncompressed, or play back up to six 8-bit SD video streams.

The unit is hot-pluggable, and the five disks are hot-swappable - additionally, they are all connected to a single port on the LaCie SATA II 3Gbits/s PCI-Express Card 4E.

The LaCie Biggest S2S 5TB is available for around $3,699 (with PCI-X Card) and $3,799 (with PCI-E Card).
