Rising projector sales on the back of lower prices and constantly improving technology has seen increasing numbers of consumers bringing the big screen feel into their homes. But when it’s not offering a visual feast, a projector can be a bit of an eyesore. September 8, 2007 Rising projector sales on the back of lower prices and constantly improving technology has seen increasing numbers of consumers bringing the big screen feel into their homes. But when it’s not offering a visual feast, a projector can be a bit of an eyesore. The Weibel Precision Projector Lift is designed to address one of the issues that arises when trying to solve this problem - build depth - by requiring only 15 centimeters of space to be built into the ceiling,

Developed by Hans Weibel, the Weibel Precision Projector Lift. the Weibel Precision Projector Lift is designed for smooth, jam-free, precise operation and billed as easy to maintain an easy to install - only 15 centimetres of roof cavity space required as opposed to up to 35cm for some conventionally designed scissor lifts.

There are many reasons for wanting to integrate a projector seamlessly into a room. It keeps wires and buttons out of reach of infants, it keeps the unit out of sight of potential burglars, and it just plain looks good. Weibel states that "women do not like to look at a 'big black screen' in homes or offices. The screen should be as small and invisible as possible, especially when turned off. For men the opposite is true: the screen should be as big and visible as possible, especially when turned on.” Both get their way, he concludes, with his product.

The Weibel Precision Projector Lift Weibel Projector are available from 2600 Euro (customized versions are also avaialble). The product was recently shown at the International Funk Ausstellung, Berlin, the world's largest consumer electronics trade show.
