Porsche Cayman S “Design Edition 1” unveiled

Porsche has announced that the Cayman S “Porsche Design Edition 1” will be available from November. The limited-edition special series of the 295bhp mid-engined coupé will see just 777 released worldwide and keeping in line with the purist nature of the vehicle, the choice of color has been made simple – it's black or black.

Black is the dominant styling theme throughout the Porsche Design creation. Black leather and Alcantara upholstery feature alongside the centre console, fascia console and door trims which also glisten in black. The three-spoke sports steering wheel, the gear lever, the handbrake grip, and the roof lining are clothed in non-slip black Alcantara. The Porsche logo crest is embossed on the seat headrests.

The vehicle’s technical features are equally sophisticated: beneath the 10mm lowered body, standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) automatically controls the firmness of the dampers and features a special Sport mode that can be activated at the touch of a button for an enhanced dynamic driving feel. Five-millimetre wide axle spacers combined with 19-inch ‘Turbo’ wheels give the Cayman S “Porsche Design Edition 1” a purposeful stance that is reinforced yet further by 235/35 ZR 19 tyres on the front axle and 265/35 ZR 19 tyres at the rear.

The black theme extends to the extra goodies that purchasers of the £49,890 Cayman S “Porsche Design Edition 1” receive - an elegant briefcase containing the Flat Six Chronograph timepiece, a pocket knife (even the blade is black), a pair of sunglasses, a pen, and a key ring.

Each of the 777 being built will be identifiable from a badge on the lid of the glove box.

The Cayman S ‘Porsche Design Edition 1’ will be on sale in the UK and Ireland from November 2007, priced from £49,890 including a Porsche Driving Experience course.
