December 8, 2005 The DirtDeck is a ruggedised Digital8 audio/video tape recording system designed for mounting in any vehicle: car, truck, quad, skidoo or boat. DirtDeck combines a proven compact video recording deck in a waterproof housing that keeps it isolated from water, dust and vibration and comes with auxiliary power outlets, making it a reliable power junction for radios, intercoms, microphone and camera power supplies. Utilizing tough, weatherproof miniature cameras the DirtDeck is small and highly portable and with various camera, lens and audio input options, can become a powerful teaching tool, allowing the user to review their activities with ease.

AUDIO

With the addition of an intercom system, the DirtDeck has the ability to record commentary as well as full 2-way radio communications. In conjunction with the supplied microphone, the driver/navigator/competitor has the ability to record all relevant sound associated with the vehicle. It’s also possible to attach such components as an MP3 player, an IPod, a cellular or satellite phone, allowing communications through helmet or headsets and having these components record audio into the DirtDeck. Manufacturer-approved intercoms also have an auto-mute feature, which will automatically mute any auxiliary inputs when 2-way radio communications are detected.

VIDEO

The video aspects of the DirtDeck can be expanded too. While the deck can only record one video input at a time, the addition of manufacturer-approved components can allow as many as four cameras to be mounted on the vehicle, giving the ability to choose which camera input to record. Input options range from single camera angles to quad split recording, picture-within-a-picture or sequential input recordings, many of which can be pre-programmed. With numerous expansion capabilities, the DirtDeck can become a real-time and post activity tool, as well as offering the ability to listen to music and cellular and/or satellite phone communications with ease.

The DirtDeck is sold directly by International Racing Consultants and distributed by RLH Communications and PCI Race Radios
