November 17, 2004 Thanks to a strategic alliance with Limelight Networks, the Phantom Game Service from Infinium Labs is poised to deliver end-to-end subscription game services delivered over broadband, offering gamers a broad library of titles on-demand to a global market.
To expand the service's content delivery infrastructure, Limelight will provide high-performance, high-integrity back-end technology and local high-speed distribution points for Phantom's subscription-based on-demand game service. Infinium Labs will utilise Limelight Networks' Content Edge delivery platform and will leverage the company's globally distributed data and network operation centers, which feature multiple modes of redundancy, real-time traffic monitoring and advanced control systems.
"We're confident that Limelight's track record of fast, reliable and scalable delivery of rich digital content will allow us to give our customers the best possible user experience," Kevin Bachus, president and COO, Infinium Labs, said. "We need a network provider that can stream game files to large audiences quickly and, at the same time, help us manage the costs associated with heavy file delivery."
Limelight will also manage traffic spikes to prevent service interruptions and provide other managed services for the Phantom Game Service. The relationship between the two companies was born out of a mutual goal to bring high-quality rich media content to end-users in a reliable, efficient and entertaining manner.
Gaming-on-demand is a fast developing market being pursued by several large gaming companies, including Yahoo.
Infinium Labs has announced it will launch its Phantom Game Service in 2005.Share
