First International Computer's CW001 netbook is destined for US shores after arriving in the FCC database on the 31st of December last year. The 10.4-inch, Atom-based netbook is noteworthy for finding room for both a DVD-RW optical drive and an ExpressCard/34 slot - which appears to be a first for this form factor.

While those two features are a worthy differentiation from the countless other netbooks on the market, the other specifications are about the same as any other netbook:

  • Intel Atom CPU (1.6 GHz)
  • Intel GMA 945 graphics
  • Up to 2GB RAM
  • 10.1-inch display (1024x600)
  • 802.11b/g wireless
  • Bluetooth
  • 1.3 megapixel webcam
  • ExpressCard/34 slot
  • VGA output
  • Two USB 2.0 ports
  • 4 in 1 card reader (SD, MMC, Memory Stick/Pro)
  • CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/CD-RW/DVD-RW optical drive

No price or release date has been announced.
