Mercedes-Benz GLA gets 5 stars in latest Euro NCAP safety ratings

The new Mercedes-Benz GLA was the only vehicle to achieve the maximum 5 stars in Euro NCAP's latest safety ratings.

The new Mercedes-Benz GLA received an impressive 96 percent for adult occupant protection, 88 percent for child occupant protection and 70 percent for safety assist. Testers noted impressive scores for front passenger protection especially, as well as side impact protection.

The new Toyota Aygo received a respectable four-star rating, boasting an 80 percent adult occupant protection rating.

The Citroen C1 and Peugeot 108, which are virtually identical under the bonnet, were also awarded a four-star rating, as was the Renault Twingo scored 81 percent for child occupant protection and 78 percent for adult occupant protection. The tester's comments noted that the passenger compartment of the remained stable for the most part, but movement of the brake pedal rendered the driver's feet and ankles vulnerable.

Meanwhile, Nissan's new electric E-NV200 Evalia was awarded a three-star rating, as was the Citroen Berlingo, which was shown to have the same levels of safety as the new Peugeot Partner.

This is -criminal- testing! No understeering car can be safe! The car-lobby has found out, through secret statistics that the more accidents there are, the more cars they sell! Do you remember what Preston Tucker said about those front-motored car-makers? It's much worse: it's premeditated!
