In the past, the Inspiron range hasn’t been the most exciting that Dell has to offer, with the more premium XPS products generally being the first to carry the latest specs and features. However, the company’s Inspiron refresh, revealed at CES this week, adds some high-end bells and whistles to the line, including an optional 4K display and Intel RealSense 3D camera tech.

The Inspiron 15 7000 Series is a 15.6-inch notebook carrying a 5th generation Intel Core i7 processor combined with up to 16 GB of RAM. The new models offer dedicated graphics in the form of an AMD Radeon R7 M270, but the big news here is that the machine can be equipped with a 3,840 x 2,160 LED backlit touch display.

Dell’s still selling older versions of the system that carry 4th generation Intel chips alongside the new models. You’ll have to spend at least US$1,100 to get one of the newer machines with dedicated graphics and a 4K display. They’re available for order now.

The lower-end Inspiron 15 5000 notebook (15.6-inch) and Inspiron 23 All-in-One computer (23-inch) have also been given a modest refresh – now being available with Intel RealSense 3D cameras. Users will be able to make use of the camera’s depth-sensing capabilities by downloading compatible apps from Intel’s App Showcase, and the tech can be used for 3D scanning and 3D printing (assuming you’ve also got a 3D printer that is).

The RealSense 3D camera-equipped Inspiron 15 5000 Series laptop offers a 5th gen Intel Core i7 processor and starts at $750. The RealSense 3D camera-equipped Inspiron 23 starts at $1,600. Both system are available from Dell’s website today.
