Although 35mm photographic film is now a thing of the past for all but the die-hard enthusiast or seasoned professional, many of us will still have filmstrips or slides dotted around our homes. With the aid of Canon's new flatbed scanner, these treasured memories can now be transferred to high resolution digital storage. The CanoScan 9000F scans at 9600 x 9600 dots per inch in Film mode, benefits from instant power up thanks to white LED and can even automatically remove imperfections from scanned images to improve on the originals.

Canon's highest resolution flatbed 12-line color scanner to date, the CanoScan 9000F, incorporates a professional film, high-speed Charged-Coupled Device sensor and can handle up to four 35mm slides or 12 35mm flimstrips at any one time. Photographic film is scanned at 9600 x 9600 dots per inch in Film mode, with other document types coming in at up to 4800 x 4800 dpi.

The new addition to the Canon range aims to make things as easy as possible for the user by offering a choice of EZ buttons for single press functionality. An Auto Scan Mode detects what's being scanned and adjusts settings for best output and FARE Level 3 technology cleans up images by automatically removing dust and scratches whilst correcting fade, grain or backlight problems at the same time. Readability of scanned documents hasn't been overlooked with Auto Document Fix sharpening and darkening any problem text.

The unit will work with both Windows and Mac systems via USB 2.0 and avoids warm up time of old by using white LED, which saves on power consumption too.

Canon is set to unleash the CanoScan 9000F into the marketplace during June 2010 and has tagged it with an estimated price of US$249.99.
