A design firm has created what it says is the tallest indoor vertical garden in the world. Green Over Grey installed the living wall at the Desjardins building in Lévis, Quebec. Called "The Currents," the installation is inspired by views of the St. Lawrence River visible from Quebec City and Lévis.  Read More

In recent years, Gizmag has reported on several architectural projects which aim to aid those living in areas prone to natural disaster, including the Bamboo Lakou community and Blooming Bamboo home. Californian studio MAT-TER is the latest firm to throw its hat in the ring, with a modular, passively-cooled, and typhoon-resistant school that's due to be constructed in the Philippines later this year.  Read More

San-Francisco-based Fougeron Architecture recently completed an unusual – and frankly very appealing – luxury home that's located along California's Big Sur coastline. Dubbed Fall House, the residence in question features a significant amount of sustainable technology and an enviable view of the Pacific Ocean, but the highlight is a roof and facade made from copper, which will slowly weather as it comes into contact with the sea air.  Read More

The historic Moscow Metallurgical Plant played a part in the birth of the Soviet Union, but fell into neglect and disrepair in recent years. Following an architectural competition, Rotterdam-based firm MVRDV has been given the nod to transform the site into a large and upmarket mixed-use development.  Read More

Chinese architectural firm MAD has started work on an ambitious new project that aims to add some nature to inner-city Beijing. The Chaoyang Park Plaza comprises commercial, office, and residential buildings – all of which feature a degree of sustainable technology – and MAD hopes to achieve LEED Gold-certification once the project is completed in 2016.  Read More
