If you bought an iPhone 5 or iPod touch 5G, then you've enjoyed the perils and pleasures of the new Lightning connector. The tiny port lets Apple make their new devices so thin, but it also creates annoying costs. A Lightning-to-30-pin adapter costs a whopping US$30. Hardware hackers may have saved the day for Apple's customers, as the Lightning authentication chip has reportedly been cracked.
