The much anticipated advent of ultra-portable projector technology is upon us with new offerings hitting the market at a rapid rate. Early market mover 3M's work on miniature projection modules has crystalized the form of the handheld 3M MPro110, a 5.6 ounce unit measuring 4.5" long x 2" wide that can project up to a 50" image.

The MPro110 uses integrated VGA and RCA Video inputs and adaptors to bring portable "big-screen" viewing for laptops, cell phones, PDAs, video and still cameras, game consoles and PMPs at a resolution of 1280 x 768. The unit has no fan and uses an LED light source that's good for 10,000 hours of operation with it's Lithium Ion battery delivering 40-60 minutes on a single charge.

The MPro110 costs USD$360.

The next step is projector integration into mobile phones - we can't wait.
