Chicago-based Studio Gang Architects has unveiled some early renders and a few preliminary details concerning a new, as-yet-unnamed, residential tower slated for Miami. The firm is targeting LEED Gold certification for the project.
The 14-story tower will be located in Miami's Buena Vista neighborhood, and will feature a total floorspace of 14,864 sq m (160,000 sq ft). Each of the 76 residential units will offer views of the famous Biscayne Bay and feature a small balcony. Residents will also have access to a lounge and swimming pool on the rooftop, and a retail space at ground level.
"The facade architecture demonstrates Studio Gang’s principle of exo-spatial high-rise design in which the inside extends to the outside in a dynamic spatial arrangement," says the firm concerning the tower's distinctive outer appearance.
Energy-saving measures revealed for the project so far include rainwater collection and solar shading. However, we can probably expect the completed building to boast some more significant green credentials if Studio Gang aims to achieve LEED Gold status – a building certification award conceived by the US Green Building Council to promote environmentally-responsible building.
The building is due to be completed in 2016.
